Pete Carroll fires back at Gregg Williams for saying Jamal Adams will get bored in Seattle
Gregg Williams said Jamal Adams will get bored in Seattle and Pete Carroll was clearly annoyed to hear him say that.
Is there some beef brewing in Seattle (no pun intended) between Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and New York Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams? On Thursday morning, Williams came out and said he thinks Jamal Adams will end up getting bored playing for Seattle’s defense.
Williams said that safeties really aren’t asked to do as much for Seattle as they are in New York. While Williams makes a good point, he really said it in the worst way possible.
This is something Carroll most definitely took issue with, which is why the veteran head coach decided to fire back with a little shade of his own.
Jamal Adams is entering his first year with the Seahawks and Pete Carroll won’t let anyone try and bring him down
You think Carroll is just going to sit by and let someone insult his team or defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr.? No chance.
Carroll didn’t mince words with his response either, clearly taking a shot at Williams for his troubled past. Absolutely no one has forgotten about his bounty-gate scandal while he was with the New Orleans Saints. Because of that scandal, Williams ended up being suspended for the 2012 season.
Williams is entering his second campaign as New York’s defensive coordinator and worked closely with Adams last season.
Williams isn’t making any friends in Seattle with his latest comments. While Carroll decided to put Williams in his place with his own great quote, the Seahawks will likely sweep this under the rug and worry about bigger and better things.
This team has Super Bowl aspirations and won’t let Williams and the Jets, who went 7-9 last season, try and get in their heads.
