With Atletico Madrid’s elimination yesterday, Barcelona are the only Spanish club still in the competition and, although there were some nervy moments on Saturday, Barca were surprisingly good in their 3-1 win over Napoli.
Ex-Bayern midfielder Arturo Vidal, Sergio Busquets and even Ousmane Dembele all make a return to the match-day squad here, but the big question has been whether or not Quique Setien will find a place for Antoine Griezmann in the starting XI. The French forward has had an uneven season since his $135 million move to the Camp Nou last summer.
Of all the many intriguing duels thrown up by this game, the most important may prove to be that between Bayern left-back Alphonso Davies and a certain Lionel Messi. The 19-year-old Canadian certainly won’t be beaten for pace.
The other stand-out contest is probably that between goalkeepers Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Manuel Neuer, especially as the two Germans reportedly haven’t always seen eye to eye.
