Justin Fields’ vague tweet gives conspiracy theorists what they crave.

Who doesn’t love a good conspiracy theory involving Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields?

With the Big Ten fall football season canceled and pushed back to the spring, the Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback may have played his last snap as an amateur. The 2019 Heisman Trophy finalist projects as a top-five pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. While the talent is undeniably there, Fields only has one year’s worth of starts under his belt. He clearly wants to play in 2020.

With Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith squashing any rumors of the Buckeyes going rogue and playing a season despite the Big Ten’s cancelation, Fields tweeted out a pair of pictures of him in Ohio State uniform with the sentence attached, “Want it more than ever…” If you need to go grab your tinfoil hat out of your closet, off the top of your mantle, or wherever you put it, now is the time.

What does Justin Fields mean when he says, “Want it more than ever…”?

So what we’re going to do today is over-interpret this as much as humanly possible today. We understand that Fields’ five-word phrase signifies he wants to play college football in the worst way possible.

The absolute shame in it all is Ohio State may very well have won the College Football Playoff for the second time and Fields could have been a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback and overtook Trevor Lawrence as the No. 1 player off the draft board. If Joe Burrow can go from a sixth-round pick to the top overall selection, Fields can totally go from No. 2 to No. 1 in a season.

Could you even imagine if Fields tweeted out a picture from his days at the University of Georgia? If he had one No. 1 jersey in scarlet and grey and the other in red and black, the internet would have lost its collective mind and never would have recovered from the incident. What if Fields decides to enter the transfer portal again and ends up back at Georgia or somewhere else? It could happen.

The most likely outcome is Fields is still grieving the loss of this season and he’s just expressing his desire that he wants to play. Fields could transfer if he wanted, but he’s waiting to see what the logistics will be of a spring season in the Big Ten before making any concrete plans.

Ultimately, the most likely scenario is Fields has played his last down as a college football player.

Nevertheless, look for every conspiracy theorists to dissect this one tweet all day.
