Watch new Texas QB commit Quinn Ewers throw a ball 73 yards (Video)
By John Buhler
Yes, you can safely say Texas football commit Quinn Ewers has a bazooka.
Texas football landed five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers‘ commitment and his rocket right arm.
Ewers committed to the Texas Longhorns on Friday evening. He is the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 high school graduating class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Ewers is the highest-rated player Tom Herman has ever landed as a coach and he’s the best player to pick the Longhorns since Vince Young opted to go to Texas two decades ago. Ewers is a transformative get for Texas.
With long blonde hair and a cannon, it’s totally reasonable Ewers draws comparisons as the next Trevor Lawrence. Heck, he might even have the strongest right arm in Texas since Patrick Mahomes. If you want proof, watch Ewers throw the football 73 yards through the air as a freshman at Southlake Carroll High School from the goal line. How can you not be impressed?

With an effortless release, there’s no telling how good Quinn Ewers can be.
The junior signal-caller may not be done growing either. He’s already 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds. While he’ll need to put some weight on his frame, he has two more seasons of high school ball to get above the 200-pound threshold, carving up every high school team in Texas Southlake Carroll goes up against along the way.
You could spend an entire afternoon watching this one highlight of Ewers chucking it long. While anybody can attempt to throw the football far from out of the end zone, you’re not going to see a guy do it as effortlessly that far at that age. This was a kid with a learner’s permit spiraling the pigskin three-quarters of the field like it was nothing. You cannot teach that kind of arm strength.
Overall, Ewers faces massive expectations the second he arrives on the Austin campus. The Longhorns haven’t been a national title contender since 2009. Not since Young played the game of his life vs. the USC Trojans in the Rose Bowl have the Longhorns won a national title. Ewers is going to a program dying to be nationally relevant again. They will be soon, shortly after he arrives.
With a cannon like this, the sky is the limit for how good Ewers can be playing for the Longhorns.
