Umpire ejects Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire in NSFW fashion (Video)

Ever wonder what it sounds like when an umpire ejects someone? Now we know
Tim Timmons wasn’t in a good mood during Sunday’s Tigers-Indians game, as the veteran umpire threw Ron Gardenhire out of the game with some not-so-kind word choice. Gardenhire was complaining about Timmons’ call of a ground-rule double, which cost the Tigers a run in a tie game against their AL Central rivals. The ball was raked into right field, but got caught underneath the Comerica Park wall.
Gardenhire’s complaint was that, from his perspective, the Cleveland outfielder still had access to the baseball that was wedged under the wall. Timmons’ decision did cost the Tigers a run, but in this case, it was pretty clearly the right call, especially if the umpiring crew lost sight of the baseball.
Gardenhire was thrown out for the 85th time, this time by the first base umpire
Gardenhire got his two cents in prior to Timmons’ outburst, but the umpire made it very clear he was ending the conversation with a couple F-Bombs to boot. Without fans in the crowd, no statement is inaudible, especially on the field of play. Timmons probably would’ve rather his cursing not have been caught on the field mic, but such is the case without background noise.
The Tigers could use a win, even without their skipper, as they’ve notoriously struggled against the Tribe the past few years. In a shortened season, Detroit is actually above the .500 mark, but their recent play suggests they’re performing above their on-field ability.
