NFL teams desperately need rookies to contribute immediately to exceed expectations in 2020. Here are 10 guys who can pay off big for their teams.

The 2020 NFL season is going to be particularly challenging for rookies looking to make their mark in the league. The truncated preseason will put a lot of pressure on young players to do work on their own to get ready for the regular season. That doesn’t mean that a select group of rookies won’t still find a way to become instant stars.

This list details the 10 rookies with the best chance to become immediate impact players. Opportunity is a big factor here. For example, Jordan Love might be a terrific long-term prospect for the Packers, but he probably won’t earn a single snap over Aaron Rodgers this season. In sharp contrast, Joe Burrow projects to be the Bengals starter when Week 1 arrives.

Without further delay, the list kicks off with a running back who is landing in a perfect situation.

10. Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Anyone who can win the starting running back job for the Chiefs is going to have a chance to put up serious numbers. Edwards-Helaire has a chance to do just that. There’s no question that he can positively impact Kansas City’s ground game, he just needs to prove his receiving skills to Andy Reid to win the starting job.

Edwards-Helaire didn’t do a ton of pass-catching out of the backfield at LSU, but there’s nothing in his athletic profile that suggests he can’t be an adequate receiver. Look for him to make big plays for Patrick Mahomes inside the context of the Chiefs’ offense this season.
