Training camp injuries are always brutal, and we’ve had several so far in the lead-up to this season

Gerald McCoy could just be the tip of the iceberg. As if practicing in the pouring rain wasn’t tough enough at Browns camp on Monday, Nick Chubb suffered some sort of ailment that forced him off the field with a trainer. It’s important to note that we have absolutely no idea what this injury is right now, and will surely provide more information when we have it.

Chubb emerged as a star in 2019, even with Kareem Hunt running behind him for half a season. Now, with Chubb and the embattled former Kansas City Chief forming a two-headed monster of sorts, one key cog of that rushing attack might’ve suffered a setback.

After the initial report, Ian Rapoport revealed that Chubb was being evaluated for a concussion.

What would a Nick Chubb injury mean for the Browns offense?

The Browns loaded up on offensive weapons for Baker Mayfield in just his third season, meaning there are no longer any excuses for the former No. 1 pick out of Oklahoma. Chubb is arguably the most talented member of that offense, as he ran for 1,494 yards and eight touchdowns in 2019. The Georgia product was close to leading the league in rushing, but that was taken from him by Tennessee Titans back Derrick Henry in the season’s final week. He’s still a little salty about that.

Without Chubb, the Browns would have to rely heavily on Hunt, who’s proven he can carry the load on a productive offense in the past. In his rookie season with the Chiefs in 2017, Hunt ran for 1,327 yards and eight scores of his own. If called upon, he’ll be ready, but the Browns hope that days doesn’t come just yet.
