Cristian Pache is about to make his Atlanta Braves’ big league debut.
It looks like Atlanta Braves‘ top prospect Cristian Pache will make his MLB debut very soon.
According to ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel, “the Braves are calling up top prospect CF Cristian Pache.” Pache is 21 years old out of Santo Domingo Centro, Dominican Republic. At 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, Pache is the Braves’ No. 1 prospect, according to MLB.com’s Prospect Rankings. After signing with the Braves on July 3, 2015, his first game with the big league club could be Tuesday.
Will Cristian Pache provide even more spark to the division-leading Braves?
Had Pache played another position, he may have been called up sooner. Atlanta has a ton of depth in the outfield with the likes of Ronald Acuña Jr., Marcell Ozuna, Nick Markakis, Ender Inciarte and Adam Duvall. Though Inciarte has struggled at the plate this year, all five have helped Atlanta win ball games before. Yet, Pache’s talent is too good to stay in AAA forever, so he’s being called up.
News of Pache being called up is peculiar, as it could signify another equally transaction coming either now or in the not-so-distant future. Perhaps Acuna’s stay on the IL will be a bit longer than expecting? Could the Braves be on the precipice of designating yet another player for assignment? Could one of their position players be on the trading block in exchange for a starting pitcher?
Atlanta without question has to figure out what it’s doing with its starting rotation. Once ace Mike Soroka succumbed to a season-ending torn Achilles’ tendon, the rotation has become Max Fried and a bunch of guys. Outside of every fifth day when Fried toes the rubber, Braves County has next to no confidence out of the other four members attempting to mimic a starting rotation.
Atlanta has the bats, the defensive prowess, the foot speed and the bullpen to win a World Series. Too bad the Braves have one of the worst rotations in all of baseball. Perhaps Pache’s promoting preludes something else?
Pache’s Braves debut looks to be happening within the next few days, so get ready for that.
