Nick Chubb taking a hard hit and getting injured is already bad news for Browns
Browns running back Nick Chubb is being evaluated for a concussion after taking a hard hit during practice.
There’s something about being a Cleveland Browns fan and seasonal depression that just mixes in too perfectly together. Unfortunately, things are getting off to a rough start before the season even gets underway this year.
During practice on Tuesday, star running back Nick Chubb went hard in the trenches like he normally does, but he received a vicious hit from a defender.
As it turns out, Chubb was hit so hard, he was slow to get up and is now being checked out for a concussion. As important as Baker Mayfield is to the offense, Chubb may be the last guy this team can afford to be injured early on in the season. He’s one of the finest running backs in the league. Without him on the field, Cleveland’s chances of making the postseason would be slim to none.
Chubb is entering his third season with the Browns and is coming off a sensational 2019 campaign. He earned Pro Bowl honors after rushing for a head-turning 1,494 yards last season, while adding eight touchdowns.
Despite Chubb putting up monster numbers, the Browns had another campaign to forget and finished the season 6-10. They missed the playoffs, but before the season began, many pegged them as a dark horse contender to win the Super Bowl.
Instead, Mayfield and the offense struggled to get into a consistent rhythm at times. The major acquisition of Odell Beckham Jr. in the previous offseason wasn’t enough to send the team over the top. They’re hoping to do a 180 for 2020, but that won’t be possible if Chubb is banged up.
