FanDuel DFS Golf: 2020 Northern Trust player selections
By Hans Geevers
The FanDuel/fantasy golf community can rejoice as the FedEx Cup playoffs are finally here! This week, the FedEx Cup playoffs will begin in Boston as the PGA Tour presents the 2020 Northern Trust.
Before I dive into my FanDuel player selections lets take a quick look at the golf course the field will play this week.
The 2020 Northern Trust will be played at TPC Boston. TPC Boston is an original Arnold Palmer design. This track is a par 71 that measures 7,342 yards. The golf course features rather wide generous fairways and bent grass greens. The final hole on this track (par five) is the perfect risk/reward hole that should provide an exciting finish for the viewing audience on Sunday afternoon.
Here are my FanDuel player selections for the 2020 Northern Trust!
Dustin Johnson $11,600
The 2016 United States Open champion has six top 17 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a win at the Travelers Championship in June.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2020 Northern Trust field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Johnson ranks 11th in strokes gained tee to green, 18th in strokes gained putting, 20th in proximity to the hole, and second in birdie or better percentage.
Jason Day $11,300
The 32 year old Australian arrives at this week’s event on the heels of four consecutive top top seven finishes on the PGA Tour including a fourth place result at the 2020 PGA championship two weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2020 Northern Trust field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Day ranks fourth in strokes gained tee to green, second in strokes gained approach, ninth in GIR (greens in regulation), and third in bogey avoidance.
Tony Finau $10,700
Finau has three top eight finishes in his last four events on the PGA Tour, including a fourth place result at the 2020 PGA Championship two weeks ago.
Cameron Champ $9,200
The talented young American has nine top 25 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a win at the Safeway Open.
Champ is currently ranked second in strokes gained off the tee (1.060), second in driving distance (321.3), and 17th in birdie average (4.20) on the PGA Tour.
Matthew Wolff $9,600
He has four top 22 finishes in his last six tournaments on the PGA Tour, including a second place result at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last month.
Bo Hoag $7,000
The 32 year old American has four top 25 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a ninth place finish at the Sony Open in January. In my opinion, Hoag presents outstanding fantasy value at a FanDuel cost of only $7,000.
