5 reasons Bears can win the Super Bowl this year
Offensive Weaponry
The Chicago offense has been quietly built over the course of several seasons, but with some health luck, and some key offseason additions, the team can take the next step to compete for the Lombardi.
For starters, the backfield is much better than it appeared in 2019. Not only is Tarik Cohen a bonafide talent as a sweep and receiving option, but second year rusher David Montgomery will greatly benefit from an improved offensive line, and should prove to be a quality, every-down back fro the Bears.
The tight end position was a glaring weakness in 2019, but Chicago took that need seriously this offseason, signing veterans Jimmy Graham and Demetrius Harris. The Bears also used their top pick in this year’s draft on Notre Dame product Cole Kmet.
The combination of Kmet and Graham should give the quarterback ample opportunities to check down and move the ball, as necessary. Harris provides experienced depth should injury occur, and will improve the blocking for run and pass plays, too.
But the real story here is the receiver position. The team’s top wideout, Allen Robinson, is a legitimate top-12 guy in the NFL. He’ll benefit greatly from improved quarterback play. His improved play should also benefit the rest of the receiving corps, featuring playmaker Cordarrelle Patterson, veteran free agent acquisition Ted Ginn, Jr., and youngsters with playmaking potential in Riley Ridley and Anthony Miller.
The Bears have the potential to boast one of the deeper pass-catching units in all of football – and a better season health-wise coupled with improved offensive line/quarterback play make this is a possible Super Bowl Champion caliber team.
