Bayern Munich were many people’s favorites to lift this trophy even before the competition resumed, and their imperious performances over the past week have done nothing to change that.
Nobody is really giving Lyon much of a chance here, but then no-one thought Rudi Garcia’s side had much of a chance against Juventus or Manchester City, either, and it certainly didn’t do them any harm.
Victory today would make Garcia just the second French coach in history to take a Ligue 1 side to the final of this tournament, matching the feat of Didier Deschamps in 2004. Bayern coach Hansi Flick, meanwhile, is looking to emulate the treble won by Jupp Heynckes in 2012.
Flick, who’s yet to lose a game in 2020, has Benjamin Pavard available again after the defender missed the Barcelona game due to injury.
