Florida football coach Dan Mullen’s quotes will have fans all aboard the hype train
Dan Mullen said his team is looking faster and stronger than last year.
As teams in the SEC, Big 12, and ACC are still going forward with their plans to play college football in the fall, they are moving into crunch time as the season approaches with kickoff slated for various dates throughout September.
And since players were not allowed to workout or practice at team facilities starting in March all the way up into June, they are trying to get as much out of practicing together as possible.
For the SEC the first official practices started on Aug. 17, and they are limited to 25 practices and 20 hours of practice time per week.
Despite the new restrictions on practice as conferences attempt to play amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Florida head coach Dan Mullen has praised the improvements of his squad when compared to last season.
Mullen stressed the importance of improvement, especially during the pandemic
When asked how he feels about his team this year, Mullen said that they are looking bigger, faster, and stronger than last year. And the improvements couldn’t have happened due to coronavirus keeping everyone away from practice and workout facilities.
Although there has not been a lot of practice, and coaches always say positive things during fall camp, this will get Florida fans on the hype train.
Last year, Florida was a very good team with a great defense that led them to victory despite injuries to both quarterbacks in Felipe Franks and Kyle Trask.
The Gators ended the regular season 10-2 with their two losses coming against LSU and Georgia, who were the two best teams in the conference. And in those two games, Florida played hard and competitively, but they were out-muscled by the Tigers and Bulldogs.
But with Mullen saying his squad looks bigger, faster, and stronger, which is what they need to be in order to beat the elite teams in the SEC, Gators fans will surely be looking for their team to win the SEC and compete in the College Football Playoff, regardless of whether or not it is a reasonable expectation.
