Joe Burrow is impressing the Cincinnati Bengals at practice.

Training camp tweets can oftentimes be hard to stomach for fans of rebuilding teams like the Cincinnati Bengals, as top draft picks often struggle with the speed of the professional game. One rookie that has emphatically bucked that trend is quarterback Joe Burrow, who is putting on a show for Zac Taylor.

Dianna Russini is reporting that Bengals sources who have watched Burrow up close in Cincinnati have been blown away with the No. 1 overall pick’s performance. Burrow’s accuracy and athleticism are drawing rave reviews, as is his confidence. The Bengals have already bought into their charismatic new leader as he looks to improve upon Cincinnati’s 2-14 record in 2019.

Joe Burrow is expected to start Week 1 after a historic 2019 season at LSU

Burrow’s final season at LSU might be the greatest individual performance a quarterback has had in the history of college football. Not only did he complete 76 percent of his passes and throw 60 touchdown passes while winning the Heisman Trophy, but he also led the Tigers to an unbeaten season and a national championship before getting picked No. 1 overall by Taylor and the Bengals. With Ryan Finley and Jacob Dolegala the only other QBs on the roster, Burrow has all but officially been named the starting quarterback.

While the Bengals have a long way to go, Burrow will have the benefit of a solid receiving corps, as AJ Green, Tyler Boyd, and rookie Tee Higgins make up quite the deadly combination of wideouts. Burrow has wasted no time getting familiar with them, as he and Green are already hooking up frequently.

Burrow has a lot on his shoulders, as he will be tasked with resurrecting a franchise that hasn’t won a playoff game since 1991. It might take some time before he gets the Bengals into the postseason, but fans have to be thrilled that he’s performing so well right out of the gate.
