La’el Collins involved in major car crash before Cowboys practice
A scary incident arrived for the Cowboys, as right tackle La’el Collins was involved in a car crash Thursday morning.
It’s been a day to forget regarding injury news for the Dallas Cowboys. The latest incident surely tops the earlier updates, though.
On Thursday morning, starting right tackle La’el Collins was missing from practice, with fans out there wondering why he wasn’t on the field. Per reports, Collins was actually involved in a ‘major’ car crash before practice got started.
Thankfully, a source told insider Michael Gehlken that the offensive lineman is doing ok and didn’t suffer any major injuries.
As Ian Rapoport noted, Collins was cut off in the incident. However, he was able to leave the scene unscathed. At this time, it’s unknown how much practice time Collins will miss following the accident, but the expectation is that he won’t miss any games.
The latest report on Collins comes after Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith was seen leaving practice early with the help of an athletic trainer. Smith, who has been dealing with back problems in recent years, is the leader of the offensive line.
Fortunately for Mike McCarthy and the rest of the Dallas coaches, Smith’s injury isn’t a serious one either and he’s going to be just fine. It goes without saying, but the Cowboys have dodged two major bullets with the latest injury updates for both Smith and Collins.
With the NFL season all set to kickoff in less than a month, the Cowboys will fortunately have plenty of time to get their offensive line healthy and ready to rock before Week 1. For Collins and Smith, they’ll look to wipe away their minor injuries and be the dominant forces we’ve be so used to seeing each Sunday.
