Will Mark Ingram Jr. have 11 total touchdowns in 2020?
By John Buhler
Can Mark Ingram Jr. keep up his ridiculous total touchdown pace for 2020?
After eight excellent years with the New Orleans Saints, 2009 Heisman Trophy-winning running back Mark Ingram Jr. had phenomenal success in his first season with the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. He had 228 total touches for 1,265 yards and a career-high 15 total touchdowns. Though he’s not getting 15 total touchdowns again in a season, will he have 11 or more this fall?
The Fantasy Footballers are very high on Ingram as a key part of Greg Roman’s Ravens offense. The plus-one attack approach afforded by reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson’s inherent mobility at the quarterback position gives supporting cast players like Ingram tremendous opportunities to succeed. However, Ingram will not have five receiving touchdowns on 26 catches ever again.

At this time, both Jason Moore and Mike Wright have Ingram projected to have precisely 11 total touchdowns in the 2020 Ravens offense. Wright has Ingram with nine rushing touchdowns and two touchdown grabs out of the backfield, while Moore has Ingram netting eight touchdowns on the ground and three additional trips to pay dirt through the air. Andy Holloway is the kicker here.
Will Mark Ingram Jr.’s 2020 total touchdown regression only be so slight?
Holloway tips the scales by saying Ingram will have more than 11 total touchdowns this season. It is a testament to how much he believes in the Ravens’ philosophical approach offensively. While adding former Ohio State Buckeyes standout J.K. Dobbins in the 2020 NFL Draft, he’s not going to be taking red-zone carries away from the seasoned veteran Ingram just yet.
Let’s be real for a second. Consensus is rarely a good thing when a group of people is projecting something out in the future, as the future doesn’t care about your plans or forecasting. Baltimore should have a good team this fall, but there’s no way the Ravens are going 14-2 again, as they and the plus-one attack aren’t sneaking up on anybody. How will potentially fewer wins affect Ingram?
In three of Ingram’s last four seasons, he has had 10 or more total touchdowns. The lone exception was the 2018 campaign where he missed four games due to suspension in his final season with the Saints. While 11 total touchdowns feels like a push, let’s side with the slightest of overs and say Ingram will find pay dirt a dozen times in a 16-game season for Baltimore in 2020.
