Star Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Tyron Smith suffered a practice injury and concern is already growing for the coaching staff.

Injuries have already started to provide major concerns for the Dallas Cowboys, especially after the team lost defensive lineman Gerald McCoy to a season-ending quad injury early on during camp. Now on the other side of the line, more worry has arrived.

During practice on Thursday, Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith appeared to have injured himself during individual drills and was seen my members of the media walking off gingerly with an athletic trainer early on during the session.

The man protecting Dak Prescott’s blindside is already banged up? It goes without saying, but this is the last thing Mike McCarthy and the rest of the Dallas coaches want to be dealing with right now.

Dallas Cowboys lineman Tyron Smith has been a force in the trenches since 2011

Smith has been sensational for the Cowboys ever since he first arrived to Dallas back in 2011. The 6-5, 320-pounder has appeared in 131 regular season games since, starting every single one of them. The veteran hoss started off his career at right tackle, but then moved to left tackle in 2012.

Things have worked out pretty darn well for him, as Smith has been named to the Pro Bowl seven consecutive seasons and has earned All-Pro honors twice. Unfortunately for him, injuries have taken their toll in the last few years.

Smith hasn’t played a full campaign since 2015, missing three games per year since. Back injuries have plagued him, and the hope for Dallas is that his back isn’t acting up again with his latest setback.

The Dallas LT is an absolute force in the trenches and is the leader of the offensive line unit. Should he end up missing any time early on this season, it’d be a major blow for the Cowboys’ offense.
