With Chiefs running back and Super Bowl hero Damien Williams opting out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns, the Chiefs will definitely need to be on the lookout for a running back.

They did address this problem in the draft by taking Clyde Edwards-Helaire from LSU with their first round pick, but they certainly could use some more depth at the position, especially since Kansas City running backs Anthony Sherman, Damien Williams, Darrel Williams, DeAndre Washington, and Elijah McGuire will all be free agents after this season.

And with Damien Williams set to sit out a year, it is not guaranteed that he will be able to return to his previous form, likewise to Duvernay-Tardif.

Kansas City should not then put all their eggs in one basket with Edwards-Helaire in 2021, which is where current Bears running back Tarik Cohen comes into play.

Cohen will be a free agent after this season as well, and with the Bears not having a very bright future ahead of them, along with Cohen struggling last season, he may look to other teams when his time comes.

He would also be a great fit for the Chiefs since he is a solid running back who gets yards when he needs to, and would not break the bank like elite running backs, such as Ezekiel Elliott or Derrick Henry. And the Chiefs certainly won’t be looking to sign players to any massive contracts after giving Mahomes $500 million and Kelce $57 million.

Overall, Kansas City doesn’t need a star running back who will rack up 1,000+ rushing yards with how great their passing game is. And Cohen will fit the mold of a good running back who will get yards whenever he has the ball.
