Mike Clevinger and Zach Plesac are still not back with the Cleveland Indians.

The Cleveland Indians had an internal problem on their hands two weeks ago when both Zach Plesac and Mike Clevinger broke team and MLB protocol by going out while in Chicago. Plesac was caught and promptly sent home, while Clevinger lied and flew home with the team being before found out.

The two had a chance to explain themselves in a team meeting and the result of that was both players being sent to the team’s training site. That was a strong statement by the Indians considering both are key members of the rotation.

Time has passed and team president Chris Antonetti has revealed there is still no plan to bring back either player.

Indians are serious about Clevinger and Plesac.

Antonetti made a strong statement by saying the goal is to build the best team possible. This clearly means chemistry is important as well because based on pure talent, the two pitchers would be included.

The logical move by the team would be to offer up both players in trades if there is no intention of having them rejoin the team this season. If the clubhouse reacted so negatively to them this month, it may be hard to regain trust in September and even next season.

Clevinger’s trade value should be through the roof as long as teams aren’t concerned about chemistry issues in their own clubhouse. A change of scenery may be what it takes to get his career back on track.

The Indians have been fine without both pitchers and have the American League Cy Young favorite Shane Bieber as the ace of the staff. The team has rattled off six straight wins and has seemingly rallied together after this internal disaster.
