WWE reveals its ThunderDome set (Video)
WWE officially reveals the ThunderDome setup it will use in Orlando.
Hours before it is set to debut as part of the Aug. 21 edition of Friday Night Smackdown, as part of WWE‘s Summerslam weekend, the WWE ThunderDome has officially been unveiled.
The ThunderDome, which will be hosted at the Amway Center in Orlando, FL, is being hailed by WWE as a state-of-the-art set that will bring fans’ “viewing experience to an unprecedented level.”

The ThunderDome will allow for virtual video boards, the pyro and lasers fans have been familiar with since the re-designs for Raw and Smackdown last year, drone cameras, “cutting-edge graphics” and virtual seating for fans — akin to what the NBA is doing at its Orlando bubble.
WWE fans can register to be a part of the ThunderDome experience through its virtual seating on WWEThunderDome.com. Access for tonight’s Smackdown has been filled, but the website is currently taking registrations for this Sunday’s SummerSlam event.
“WWE has a long history of producing the greatest live spectacles in sports and entertainment, yet nothing compares to what we are creating with WWE ThunderDome,” Kevin Dunn, WWE Executive Vice President, Television Production, said in a statement. “This structure will enable us to deliver an immersive atmosphere and generate more excitement amongst the millions of fans watching our programming around the world.”
The WWE will be taking residence at the Amway Center with its ThunderDome set for the foreseeable future for its broadcasts of Monday Night Raw, Friday Night Smackdown and pay-per-view events. All NXT broadcasts and any NXT Takeover events (including this Saturday’s NXT TakeOver XXX special), however, will not be at the Amway Center and will remain at Full Sail University.
WWE adds it will “continue to administer its health and safety protocols for talent, crew and employees in conjunction with each production, including PCR testing for COVID-19, social distancing and wearing masks.”
