Luka Doncic listed as questionable for Game 4 vs. Clippers
The Mavericks had quite the injury scare with Luka Doncic in Game 3
Dallas Mavericks superstar forward Luka Doncic is listed as questionable for Sunday’s Game 4 vs. the Los Angeles Clippers after rolling his ankle on Friday night and leaving the game.
The All-Star was unable to put weight on the ankle after the injury, but noted that he was glad that it was his left ankle, and not the right one which he had previously injured this season. After dropping a combined 70 points in Games 1 and 2, Doncic will be key to Dallas’s hopes as the Mavericks look to avoid a 3-1 deficit in Game 4.
Dallas faces a critical Game 4 against the Clippers
Doncic’s impact cannot be overstated, and the Mavericks cannot afford even a one-game absence if they hope to stay alive after Kawhi Leonard dropped 36 points in Game 3. The 20-year-old star has averaged just under 29 points and nine assists per game in 2020, and he’s the presence that truly makes the offense hum.
If Dallas is forced to play without Doncic in Game 4, the series could be over. While Paul George has been ice-cold from the floor, Kawhi Leonard has once again elevated his play in the postseason, and sidekick Kristaps Porzingis simply cannot match Doncic’s production.
Doncic’s health remains something to monitor, but he could be limited even if he plays. His injury looked significant, as he hopped to the locker room shortly after and did not return to the game. While he has some time to recuperate before Sunday afternoon, he may still be significantly hobbled.
With the Mavericks facing an uphill battle, Doncic will assuredly do everything in his power to be on the floor on Sunday and salvage the season. However, if that proves impossible, he could have a full offseason to recover and build on a promising second season.
