player. 27. . Atlantic. New York Knicks. 4. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The Knicks are not only destined for another season outside of the postseason, barring a major trade, but they might be destined for last place in the Atlantic division, which has quickly become the NBA’s most competitive. The roster is currently a weird mishmash of young studs like RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson and high-priced veteran free agents like Julius Randle and Bobby Portis. The Knicks need a star to galvanize this roster, and Hield fits the bill.

If the Knicks hold on to the No. 8 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft in a potential Hield trade, they could use it to select their point guard of the future. Pulling off this selection and a Hield deal would give the Knicks a backcourt that sets them up nicely in the short and long term without usurping Barrett’s status as the franchise player. Hield going to the Knicks might not get them into the playoffs, but it would make them a respectable roster with some star power that teams will not be able to dismiss out of hand.
