Georgia picks up commitment from top JUCO cornerback De’Jahn Warren – Check out his highlights
By John Buhler
De’Jahn Warren has made his decision and has committed to Georgia football.
Georgia football landed a huge four-star commitment on Monday morning with De’Jahn Warren.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Warren is the No. 1 junior college cornerback recruit, the No. 1 junior college player from Maryland and the No. 2 overall player in junior college. The Hyattsville, Maryland native plays at Lackawanna Community College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. While some thought he’d stay in Big Ten country, he’s heading to the SEC.
What kind of player can De’Jahn Warren be with the Georgia Bulldogs?
Warren is the 14th commitment to Georgia’s 2021 recruiting class. He is the 10th four-star commitment for Kirby Smart’s program, as the Dawgs push ever closer to being back in the top-10, currently at No. 12. Given that Smart is a former All-SEC performer in the secondary himself, this is a huge get for the Georgia program, as Warren will be expected to help out right away.
With Georgia recruiting on a national level now, Smart and his coaching staff can land the best players possible, regardless of if they call The Peach State home or not. While there is a ton of blue-chip in Georgia, it is great to see Smart’s team be willing to look at players well outside of their region and show them all the good things Georgia has to offer.
Georgia enters the 2020 college football season as the No. 4 team in the land, according to the initial AP Top 25 poll. If that poll were to include only teams that are actually playing this fall, Georgia would move up to No. 3, behind only the Clemson Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Maybe this is the year the Dawgs finally make 1980 a year of the past and win the dang thing?
As expected, Georgia will continue to make its push towards the top-10 and maybe even into the top-five in the 2021 recruiting cycle. Players can and will flip their commitments before the first signing period around the holiday season. If the Dawgs win a bunch on the gridiron this fall, perhaps they’ll get a few guys committed to teams ahead of them to flip and Commit to the G.
Warren has the potential to be the next dominant defensive back for the Georgia program.
