Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Devin Williams wrote BLM in the mound.

The timing and location of the most recent Black Lives Matter display did not go unnoticed on Monday night. Milwaukee Brewers pitcher, Devin Williams, scratched out what had previously read “BUD” and replaced it with “BLM” and then promptly struck out the Reds in order.

This most recent display in support of the Black Lives Matter movement came just after a video was released showing Kenosha, Wisconsin police shooting a Black man, Jacob Blake in the back, in front of his three young children. He’s reportedly alive but in stable condition in a local ICU.

What does BLM stand for?

This is the most recent police-involved shooting coming just months after most of the world joined together to protest the deaths of two Black citizens — George Floyd in Minneapolis, MN and Breonna Taylor in Louisville, KY.

The Brewers play less than an hour away from Kenosha, WI where the most recent incident occurred. Athletes from around the sports world, including NFL’s Aaron Rodgers and NBA’s Chris Paul have spoken out in support of the Black Lives Matter movements, citing Blake in their statements on Monday.
