The Alabama football program honored Kobe Bryant with a video of his campus visit
The past two days have been tough for Kobe Bryant’s colleagues and fans. Sunday would’ve been Bryant’s 42nd birthday and Monday, Aug. 24, was dubbed “Kobe Bryant Day” in Orange County, Calif. Back in January, Bryant, his daughter and seven other individuals were killed in a tragic helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif. Social media feeds were flooded with tributes to Bryant, and that includes in the college football world.
On Monday, the Alabama football program’s official Twitter account posted a video of Bryant speaking with the team during an on-campus visit back in 2018.

Bryant offered words of wisdom to the Crimson Tide
Head coach Nick Saban called in Bryant to speak with his team, and he was blown away by the former Los Angeles Lakers star’s mentality and commitment to greatness. In fact, Saban spoke one-on-one with Bryant immediately after his speech to the Crimson Tide.
One of the most prominent words of advice that Bryant gave the football squad was to be focused on the road to success and the hard work that comes without it, rather than focusing on the success itself. These words have famously been dubbed by Bryant as the “Mamba Mentality,” one that is followed by many of professional athletes. And why wouldn’t they? This is a guy who won five NBA Championships, four All-Star Game MVP’s and a 2008 NBA MVP Award in his 20-year career.
Bryant has left a lasting impression on athletes across all sports, and Alabama shared what Kobe meant to them after his visit.
