Terry McLaurin is showing off at Washington camp.
The newly-christened Washington Football Team went through quite the noisy offseason, but they’re close to putting all of those PR nightmares in the past as they gear up for 2020.
One of the many individual pieces Washington has to be excited about is wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who has given fans every indication that his sophomore campaign will be even better than his excellent rookie season.
McLaurin and quarterback Dwayne Haskins have linked up early and often this offseason, with one of their more flashy connections featuring McLaurin diving into the end zone before breaking out in celebration.
Considering how Ron Rivera’s offensive coaching staff, now helmed by offensive coordinator Scott Turner, liked to stretch the field vertically during their days in Carolina, Haskins chucking it deep to McLaurin should be a staple of the Washington offense.

Terry McLaurin was extremely productive in a bad offense last season.
McLaurin went into the worst possible situation for a rookie. Despite linking up with his college quarterback in Haskins, a lame-duck head coach and a revolving door at quarterback made Washington one of the league’s worst offenses. Despite that, McLaurin caught 58 passes for 919 yards and seven touchdowns. His 85.7 PFF grade was the highest of any offensive rookie in the league.
Now that Haskins has a year under his belt and the coaching staff of yesteryear has bit the dust, look for McLaurin to top those numbers if he dominates in games like has been in practice. Given his route-running skills and pure speed, putting up numbers in a pass-happy offense should be easy.

The future of Washington is inexorably tied to Ohio State. If Haskins, McLaurin, and 2020 No. 2 overall pick Chase Young all perform up to their talent level, Rivera’s Football Team might actually make some noise in 2020.
