Here’s why Trevor Bauer drew ‘buds’ on the mound.

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer hit an interesting milestone on Monday and promptly earned a beer for it. Bauer set a new modern-day record for the club when he notched his fifth strikeout on Monday and his 46th so far this season. Throughout the inning, Bauer was spotted drawing the word “buds” on the mound and there’s a pretty good reason for it.

Where did this whole Trevor Bauer and Budweiser thing start?

The whole thing started when Bauer replied to a tweet announcing he’d tied the club record with “hold my beer” knowing full well he’d break it before the season was over.

Budweiser then replied challenging Bauer to break that record in exchange for a custom beer can which reads “Cincinnati Buds” in place of the classic Budweiser logo.

Now that he’s done it we hope Budweiser holds up their end of the agreement.
