2. Best in the West

The NFC West still belongs to the 49ers. However, that does not mean the division is poor. Instead, it provides competitiveness that will help any team who wins it become more battle-tested in the playoffs.

In 2019, the Niners battled the Seattle Seahawks for the division title. Eventually, Seattle captured a Wild Card spot with an 11-5 record. The Los Angeles Rams went 9-7, and the Arizona Cardinals finished 5-10-1.

Last season, the 49ers played well within the NFC West going 5-1. The lone loss came against the Seahawks in overtime at home. However, besides their first matchup with the Rams, each game the Niners played against a divisional opponent finished close.

This year, the Seahawks and Cardinals both project to be better, while the Rams provide some sort of a sneaky unknown. Seattle added All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, while the Cardinals revamped the defense in the draft and beefed the offense up with the addition of star receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

Also, this division features some innovative minds, and flat out great head coaches with Sean McVay, Kliff Kingsbury, and Pete Carroll. It will be a competitive battle all season, specifically between the Niners and Seahawks. But, it is San Francisco with the upper hand with the most complete roster.

Basically, this division will provide the 49ers with a fight, which should help when it comes to the biggest games in the playoffs. As things currently stand, they should be the division winners at season’s end, which means they will be right back in the playoffs looking to make more noise.
