Bengals running out of superlatives to describe Joe Burrow
The Cincinnati Bengals can’t say enough good things about Joe Burrow
Joe Burrow amazed and dazzled college football fans across the country when he and the LSU Tigers completed an undefeated 15-0 season capped off with a national title. It was no surprise when the Cincinnati Bengals used the No. 1 pick on the Athens, Ohio native in the NFL Draft. And it’s also no surprise that Burrow is putting on a show for his new coaches and teammates at Bengals training camp.
In fact, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor is running out of superlatives to describe Burrow’s performance thus far in training camp.
Joe Burrow is living up to the hype early in camp
According to Around the NFL, Taylor joined NFL Network’s Inside Training Camp Live and said a mouthful of good things about his quarterback. He spoke about how Burrow has a full grasp of the Bengals offense and he has shown that he is the hardest worker on the team and an extension of the coaching staff. Taylor admires the way he communicates with teammates, how he carries himself in team meetings, and his work ethic overall.
"“He’s got full grasp of our offense. … You want your quarterback to be the hardest worker on the team and an extension of the coaching staff. He fits both those descriptions for us right now. He really breathes life into this offense, into this team. … He’s very confident, he’s not arrogant. I think the team believes in this guy right now, but again he’s earned that in the way that he’s gone about his work, the way he operates in the meetings, the way he communicates with his teammates on both sides of the ball. He’s filling into that leadership role as well as any young player can do right now.”"
Taylor also made it clear that Burrow isn’t splitting reps with another quarterback on the team. The Bengals want to get him the most reps that he can get to be ready for week one when the team plays the Los Angeles Chargers Sept. 13 in their season opener.
The Bengals are all in on Burrow and rightfully so. He is the No.1 pick after all. He had a stellar final season at LSU, winning the Heisman and national championship after throwing for a record 60 touchdowns. It’s not a surprise to see why the Bengals are enamored with him.
Of course, We have to see how he plays the first few weeks of the season, but he could very well play himself into the Rookie of the Year honor. He gives the Bengals the capability to make some noise. With Burrow, anything is possible for this team.
