All of the Chase Claypool hype is incredible news for Ben Roethlisberger

Rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool continues to impress at camp for the Pittsburgh Steelers. 

Early on in his NFL career, Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Chase Claypool has done nothing but put on a show during practices in the middle of camp. The former Notre Dame standout has indeed been one of the many bright spots for Mike Tomlin leading up to the season.

A second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Claypool is performing so well, many out there expect him to be an immediate playmaker for the Pittsburgh offense. It goes without saying, but this is incredible news for veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Ben Roethlisberger has an emerging talent on his hands with Chase Claypool looking strong for the Steelers

Claypool was a four-year contributor at Notre Dame, seeing the field early on as a true freshman. Things only kept getting better for him over this four-year career, with things ending with a bang in 2019. As a senior last campaign, Claypool hauled in 66 balls for 1,037 yards and 13 touchdowns.

That kind of production earned him plenty of attention leading up to the draft. Fortunately for the Steelers, he was still on the board when they were up with the No. 49 overall pick. Now, Claypool will look to transfer his standout ways from Notre Dame to the AFC North.

For Roethlisberger in particular, having another speedy, big weapon on the outside is of course welcome news. After rehabbing around the clock to recover from his season-ending elbow surgery from last year, Roethlisberger is hoping to jump right back into his old form as soon as Week 1 arrives.

Now that he has a 6-4, 240-pound weapon in Claypool to throw to in addition to the other studs on offense, including JuJu Smith-Schuster, Big Ben has to be plenty pumped.

Things are trending in the right direction once again for the Steelers. Let’s see what Claypool can get done in his first year in Pittsburgh.
