Manchester United’s Harry Maguire guilty on 3 charges after Mykonos arrest
Harry Maguire was arrested recently in Mykonos, Greece and has since been found guilty on multiple charges.
Things have gone from bad to worse for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.
Last week, the club captain was arrested in Mykonos, Greece only days after his team was eliminated in the Europa League semifinals to Sevilla, which went on to win the tournament.
Maguire reportedly was involved in an altercation with a different party at a bar, and then got into a melee with local officers. On Tuesday morning, news broke that the centre back has been found guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and repeated attempts of bribery.
Harry Maguire’s recent arrest in Greece has provided plenty of embarrassment for Manchester United
This news comes hours after Maguire was included in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad for the Nations League. The superstar defenseman was not present in court in Greece on Tuesday, but multiple reports state his father went for him.
Maguire has been torched on social media by Manchester United fans, and their rivals, ever since the news of his arrest dropped. He was brought in by Ed Woodward and United on a record fee for a defender, but failed to live up to the hype countless times throughout his first campaign at Old Trafford.
During English Premier League play, he scored only one goal on the year, which came in a 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. In the Europa League semifinal loss to Sevilla, Maguire went viral after some average defending at best opened the door for the Spanish club to even up the score.
Man United is getting ready for the English Premier League season to get back underway on Sept. 12. For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having to worry about his captain dealing with legal issues like this is the last thing he needs, especially after the team suffered another trophy-less campaign in 2019.
