LSU basketball coach Will Wade in hot water again with the NCAA
Will Wade is in trouble with the NCAA once again.
Will Wade became the head coach at LSU back in March of 2017. He is now facing his second wave of allegations regarding offering or actually giving recruits illegal payments.
The first instance of this came in March of 2019 when Wade served a suspension after an FBI investigation seemed to incriminate him. He was back on the sidelines a month later after somehow escaping serious punishment.
But a new report from ESPN’s Mark Schlabach links Wade to 11 clear acts of wrongdoing involving paying recruits or making major offers involving potential payment.
Will Wade back in hot water after pay-for-play allegations resurface
These are quite the allegations and should be taken seriously by the NCAA the second time around. While some fans may try to brush this aside and say everyone does it, these are still the rules in place and Wade has shown a blatant disregard for following the guidelines set before him.
Wade is only 37-year-old and may be out of a job soon if LSU wants to avoid serious repercussions. The school may not be able to avoid that at all if the NCAA decides to come down hard on the program and Wade after letting him off easy a year ago.
The ESPN report also details how the LSU football program is facing allegations, but head coach Ed Orgeron is not facing incriminating evidence like Wade. The basketball coach was caught on tape discussing payments and more evidence has emerged.
Wade has a 64-30 record at LSU and has the team on the right track. However, he is causing serious damage to the program and postseason bans are not exactly a great boost to recruiting.
This latest report offers up evidence found by the NCAA. Wade lasting through the fall would be a shock given this is not his first set of allegations.
