2. P Daniel Norris

Norris missed summer camp after a COVID-19 diagnosis, and his season debut (a start) on Aug. 2 wasn’t good (two runs on four hits and two walks with no strikeouts over 1.2 IP). He was moved to the bullpen, and has authored four scoreless appearances (three multi-inning) in five outings since. In those five relief appearances (13.1 innings), he has a 12:1 K/BB ratio and 1.35 ERA.

Norris as mostly been a starter in his career, with 83 starts in 103 major league outings. Last year, he made 29 starts (out of 32 appearances) for the Tigers with 4.49 ERA overall, decent peripherals (7.8 K/9, 2.4 BB/9) and a 2.9 bWAR.

Norris is making the prorated portion of $2.96 million this year, in his second year of arbitration. That team control for 2021 is an added trade asset for the Tigers, and that Norris can start or pitch out of the bullpen is sure to be of value to a lot of contending teams.
