2. Will the Chiefs repeat as champions?

No team has done it since 2004.

What makes the Kansas City Cheifs any different? It’s sexy to blurt out “Patrick Mahomes” and think you dropped your microphone. But some masterful quarterbacks have won Super Bowls since 2004 — Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rodgers. Pump the brakes before you say Mahomes is better than those men.

So, what can the Chiefs do to change the course of history? They began the journey by drafting a promising running back in Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Then, that paid their quarterback a half-billion dollars. Next, they flipped a few pennies Travis Kelce’s way and secured his services for $75 million.

Kansas City is definitely spending the cash to keep this thing rolling. Will it work?

1. Tom Brady

That’s the storyline. Those two words.

Inexplicably, Brady left Boston to go to a team that is not famous for longstanding success like the Steelers or Packers are often labeled. Why on earth did Tom Brady go to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

If he sought an offensive toolbag, he got it. The Buccaneers will hand Brady elite wideouts in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. What’s more, running-mate Rob Gronkowski has body-slammed retirement and will join Brady in Florida.

The masses will learn very soon if Brady’s stint in Tampa Bay is more akin to Brett Favre joining the Vikings in 2009 or Brett Favre returning to the Vikings in 2010. Those stories were scripted in enormously different contexts.

Ok, there is a storyline: Can Tom Brady win a Super Bowl in Tampa Bay thus proving his legacy of six titles in New England was more of a testament to him personally that it was the wizardry of Bill Belichick.

Let’s find out.
