1. Patrick Mahomes – Most TD Passes in a Single-Season

Current Record Holder: Peyton Manning (55), 2013

Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes has the talent to break any and all quarterback records. Period.

This one is merely an example. When Peyton Manning broke the single-season touchdown passes record in 2013, the NFL was in the process of evolving into a pass-happy league. We are there now. The rules have been tightened so much to protect passers that many quarterback records will be easier to reach in the proceeding decades.

Mahomes flirting with the touchdown pass record — single-season and beyond — is a no-brainer. That is not an endorsement that he will actually do it in 2020, but he has the arm and playmakers to make it happen. Wideout Tyreek Hill is due to remain healthy for a full season, and tight end recently re-upped with Kansas City to remain with the team for the rest of his professional life.

No record is safe with a healthy Patrick Mahomes manning the Chiefs offense. Bulldozing Peyton Manning’s single-season touchdown mark will indeed require a quarterback to throw an average of 3.5 touchdowns per game. It sounds insurmountable. In the AFC Divisional playoff game against the Houston Texans last January, Patrick Mahomes tossed four touchdowns in the second quarter alone for God’s sake.

He can break Manning’s record.
