6. Tom Brady or Drew Brees – Oldest Player to have a 400+ Yard Passing Game

Current Record Holder: Brett Favre (41 years, 28 days), 2010

Here’s a record that has an extremely realistic chance to change ownership. Brett Favre set this record while playing for the Minnesota Vikings in the final season of his career.

Tom Brady is 43 years of age. Drew Brees is already older than Favre was when he achieved the mark. Should either man pass for 400 or more yards in a game during the 2020 season, he would become the owner of this record.

This is more than achievable as both men are still prolific passers well into their 40s. Last season, Brees threw for 271 yards per game. Unless he unceremoniously encounters an age-related cliff, that number will not dip too drastically. Brees also has a workhorse wideout in Michael Thomas receiving his balls. Thomas is as sure-handed as they come, and that bodes well if a quarterback wants to slay longstanding passing records.

Then, look at Brady. He left New England to frolic with a brand new assortment of weapons down in Tampa. Pass-catchers Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Rob Gronkowski will be on the receiving end of Brady’s throws. It’s a formidable trio.

One of these two statesmen will break this record.
