3. Lamar Jackson – Most Rushing Yards in a Game by a QB

Current Record Holder: Colin Kaepernick (181), 2012

You thought Michael Vick was the owner of this record, didn’t you? Incorrect. Freshly-vindicated Colin Kaepernick is the beholder of this accomplishment, and he did it in a playoff game, no less. Kaepernick and the 49ers flogged Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in the 2012 Divisional Round playoff at Candlestick Park.

In doing so, the later-blacklisted Kaepernick scampered for 181 rushing yards and accounted for a cumulative total of four touchdowns.

On the single-game rushing record by a quarterback, it is ripe for the taking — by Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. So far, Jackson has aptly merged his prowess for rushing and throwing the football.

This incorporation of styles — running and passing — has been tried before. It has even worked. Yet, for those that pulled off the dual-threat approach, it generally came crashing down via injury. Examples include Randall Cunningham, Robert Griffin III, and Cam Newton. Each man played wondrously, for a while, but injuries accumulated.

Jackson, though, will have the opportunity to erase precedent. There are no signs from the Ravens that would indicate Jackson will be tamed into a pocket passer. Until that happens, Jackson has a practical opportunity to top Kaepernick’s record every time he steps foot on an NFL field.
