In Game 6, the Denver Nuggets forced a Game 7 against the Utah Jazz thanks to Jamal Murray.

When the Utah Jazz built a 3-1 series lead, it seemed like the Denver Nuggets‘ season was dead in the water. Instead, Jamal Murray willed them back from the brink for the second straight game, forcing a Game 7 in this first-round NBA playoff series with an epic Game 6 performance.

Finishing his night with yet another 50-point detonation, Murray joined some elite company in league history, winning the latest round of his ongoing duel with Donovan Mitchell in scintillating fashion.

While Mitchell was unstoppable in his own right, notching 44 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals on 9-of-13 shooting from 3-point range, it was Murray who took over for the final three quarters of the game, turning Game 6 into a dazzling display of otherworldly shotmaking.

Murray, who dropped 50 points in Game 4 and another 42 in Game 5, followed up with another 50-burger in Game 6 on Sunday. In addition to those 50 points, he also chipped in 6 assists, 5 rebounds and made 9 of his 12 3-pointers, shooting a blistering 17-for-24 overall.

As the Jazz repeatedly threatened to close the gap late in the fourth quarter against this porous Nuggets defense, Murray’s individual shotmaking kept them at bay. Not only was this his third straight 40-point game, but he’s now scored 142 points over the last three games.

There have been questions about how good Jamal Murray can actually become, as well as critics wondering when he’d finally be consistent. If these playoffs are any indication, he’s starting to figure it out.
