The Over and Back Classic NBA Podcast honors the late, great Clifford Robinson with 10 key moments from his NBA career.

With the news of Clifford Robinson’s passing, Jason Mann and Rich Kraetsch discuss the life and career of Robinson, 10 key moments from “Uncle Cliffy’s” career and his impact on the NBA.

We begin with a discussion about his college career, one of the early standouts in Jim Calhoun’s soon-to-be UCONN dynasty, his number being retired by the college and more.

Next, it’s onto the NBA draft where Robinson is picked 36th overall but arguably has one of the best careers of any player from a somewhat loaded 1989 NBA Draft.

Of course, there is plenty of headband talk along the way, discussions on his playstyle and how it would fit into the 2020 game, his eight years with Portland and the twilight of his career in Detroit, Phoenix, New Jersey and Golden State. Also, a brief foray into Robinson’s Survivor career, activism for legalized cannabis and his Uncle Spliffy dispensary.

Then it’s onto the 10 key moments in Robinson’s career:

  1. Robinson’s NBA debut and, perhaps just as important, the NBA debut of his headband
  2. When Robinsion obtains his “Uncle Cliffy” nickname
  3. Winning 1993 Sixth Man of the Year
  4. Robinson’s only All-Star game
  5. Jan 7, 1996 Player of the Week
  6. Robinson’s 461 game iron-man streak
  7. Robinson’s historical 50-point game
  8. Uncle Cliffy’s best playoff performance
  9. The first time he misses the playoffs in his career
  10. A historic and futuristic performance from Robinson in 2004
