NFL teams looking to add big-time talent before the start of the 2020 regular season still have some options. These five stars could help the right team.

There are no perfect NFL free agents left just weeks before the start of the regular season, but that doesn’t mean enterprising GMs can’t still find players capable of giving their teams a massive boost. Each of the five players on this list can really help a team if they land in the right situation.

There are clear reasons why each guy on this list is available. Some are still looking for too much money on the open market. Others have serious off the field questions to answer. Again, finding a perfect player isn’t a reasonable expectation at this point in the NFL calendar. The key is to find a player with the right risk/reward ration.

The first player on the list just became available but should field several offers from teams in need of a physical running back.

5. Leonard Fournette

The Jaguars made the decision to cut Fournette on Monday in an effort to avoid paying him just over $4 million this season. His periodic clash with coaches in Jacksonville combined with his inconsistent physical conditioning were also factors in the team’s decision.

That doesn’t change the fact that Fournette is still a talented rusher who can be effective in the right offensive system. He’s worked hard to improve his receiving skills in recent years, but he’s still at his best when he’s used as a rusher in between the tackles.

A team with a real commitment to running the ball inside could give Fournette a chance to revive his career on a one-year deal. Imagine him serving as Derrick Henry’s backup in Tennessee as one scenario where he could really thrive. Fournette had worn out his welcome in Jacksonville but that doesn’t mean his time as a productive NFL running back is over.
