The new Cincinnati Bengals defensive back has returned to the team

This offseason, the Cincinnati Bengals brought in Mackensie Alexander to shore up their defensive backfield. But, family matters took precedent this past week for the former Minnesota Viking, as he left training camp to look for his 67-year-old father, who was reported missing in Florida. In the process of his search, Alexander was arrested on one count of battery.

But, with his father safe and sound, Alexander revealed on Monday that he’s back in the Bengals facility, via his Instagram story.

Alexander had a harrowing week

Jean Odney Alexandre, 67, was reported missing around 2 p.m. ET last Monday in Okeechobee, Fla. after picking palmetto berries with a friend. The search for Alexandre became much more concerning because he didn’t have a cell phone on him, which made it difficult for police to pinpoint his exact location.

After leaving the Bengals, Alexander was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly striking the man that went on the berry picking trip with his father. Alexander was released the following day on $2,000 bond and is expected to plead not guilty on the misdemeanor battery charge at a court appearance yet to be scheduled.

Luckily, Alexander’s father was found on Thursday morning after he turned up at a ranger station in Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park.

The Bengals signed Alexander this past March to a one-year, $4 million contract. Alexander is coming off a 2019 season where he allowed 38 catches for 324 yards and two touchdowns on 58 targets in 13 games. Alexander is expected to start at corner alongside William Jackson III, as Trae Waynes is expected to miss a majority of the 2020 season after tearing his pectoral muscle.

While Alexander has returned to the team, there’s a possibility that he could face a suspension under the NFL‘s Personal Conduct Policy.
