Dwayne Johnson has become a larger than life figure as “The Rock.” He went from being a professional wrestling superstar in WWF/WWE to being a sure thing for movie studios when it comes to driving in massive revenue.
His rise was helped along by his charisma and ability to out-talk anyone in the ring with him. His catchphrases were iconic and one of his most used words is now officially in the English language. That’s right, the word “jabroni” was officially added to the language by Dictionary.com.
The Rock can do it all
Diehard wrestling fans will also point out the word was used by Iron Sheik as well. But The Rock took it to a whole new level when wrestling was at its peak popularity. The official definition is listed as: “a stupid, foolish, or contemptible person; loser.”
“Jabroni” was joined by new words “nothingburger” and “amirite” as the English language formally takes on slang terms as official words.
Johnson already has his name in the spotlight right now after his investment group bought the bankrupt XFL. It is almost poetic for Johnson to run a company that was twice failed by Vince McMahon. Wrestling fans may wonder how great the WWE product could be if Johnson took over there as well.
Hearing the word “jabroni” should instantly shoot fans back to the days of the Attitude Era. The Rock and Stone Cold were the stars of the wrestling world and there was also the battle between WWF and WCW.
