Sophomore Georgia running back Zamir White is expected to have a breakout year for the Bulldogs this season.
Ever since he was in high school, running back Zamir White has had monster expectations thrown his way. A former 5-star prospect, White signed with Georgia and was receiving comparisons to some of the top running backs in program history before he even set foot on campus in Athens.
Now that he’ll be the featured back as a redshirt sophomore, White knows fans in Georgia will be ready to see if he’ll be able to live up to his massive hype. If you ask him, though, White isn’t worried about the outside noise.
More so, he’s confident in his abilities and feels he’ll be ready to showcase to the rest of the country why Kirby Smart is so excited to see him take the field come Week 1.

Zamir White knows he will have eyes from all over the country on him this season as Georgia’s featured running back
With Georgia’s long, storied history at the position, this puts even more pressure on White. This camp, he was asked about the ‘RBU’ moniker, which of course honors stars like Hershel Walker, Todd Gurley, Nick Chubb and so many others.
While it’s unfair to try and compare White to those Bulldogs greats, Smart and his coaches are counting on him to have a monster year for Georgia in 2020. Last season, the 215-pounder played in 13 of 14 games, rushing for 408 yards on 78 carries. He made his first start in the Sugar Bowl against Baylor, finishing with 18 carries for 92 yards.
Entering the new campaign, White was named to the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award, an honor given to the best running back in the nation. With Georgia’s first game of the year around the corner, it’s time to see what White can get done.
