Dream matches are aplenty in the world of pro wrestling and while you should never say never, these are five matches you won’t likely see.

You know the biggest ones by now. AJ Styles vs. Ric Flair. Sting vs. The Undertaker and of course, Goldberg vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin. These are just some of the dream matches fans have talked about and wanted to see for years, decades even. We’re not going to talk about those ones, however. We’re going to talk about the ones that fans may not realize they wanted to see.

A dream match isn’t just the most popular against the most popular. It isn’t just company vs. company or era vs. era. It’s the idea of two perfectly matched competitors, who can play off of each other well, getting to do what they do best in the middle of that squared circle.

It’s about pitting two forces together that probably should’ve had the opportunity but never got the chance. In some cases, these matches missed out on happening by weeks. In other instances decades. It’s the pairing of two people that perfectly suit one another’s strengths and can help hide one another’s weaknesses.

Think about some of the greatest dream matches ever, your Hollywood Hogans vs. The Rocks, your John Cena’s vs. A.J. Styles. They all offered something to work with. With Hogan, it was Rock’s athleticism that helped hide Hogan’s faults. For Styles, it was Cena’s sturdy base that allowed him to try more innovative things.

So let’s take a look at five dream matches you’ll probably never see.
