Stephen Jones might have just jinxed the 2020 NFL season

The Dallas Cowboys’ executive vice president expressed his utmost confidence that the season will be played in full.
We are two days away from the start of the 2020 NFL regular season. Usually, this time of the year provides hope for fans of all 32 teams. But this season is different, as the league is trying to conduct its season during a global pandemic. So far, the NFL has nailed their COVID-19 testing and safety protocols, leading to successful training camps. One front office executive is so proud of what was accomplished this summer, that they made a rather boisterous claim on how the upcoming season will go.
During a radio interview on 105.5 The Fan on Monday, Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones expressed his confidence that the 2020 season will be played in full without any hiccups. Let’s hope this doesn’t serve as a jinx.

Cowboys have lofty expectations for 2020
Prior to the start of training camp, various members of the Cowboys were working on creating their own bubble for the preseason. Players would practice at their facility in Frisco, Tx., and stay at the Omni Hotel located adjacent to “The Star” throughout the duration of camp. Quarterback Dak Prescott said it best regarding the use of a bubbled environment this year, “the healthiest team wins.”
That statement by the franchise-tagged quarterback rings true across the league. Whoever has the healthiest team overall is likely going to make it to the Super Bowl.
After failing to clinch a playoff berth last season, the Cowboys overhauled their entire team. Jason Garrett was let go as head coach and replaced by Mike McCarthy, formerly of the Green Bay Packers. Then, the team made a variety of offseason acquisitions, including Everson Griffen, Dontari Poe and Aldon Smith. Finally, the Cowboys had one of the best NFL Draft classes this year, thanks in part to the tremendous scouting by the organization. All of this was done to not only win the NFC East division, but to hoist their sixth Lombardi Trophy.

The Cowboys, sensing this year is the best chance they have at reaching the Super Bowl, wants this season to occur without any pauses or cancellations. A full, successful NFL season can only happen if players and coaches are on the same page and avoid unnecessary risks off the field. So far, it’s working. The true test will take place a couple of weeks into the 2020 campaign.
