Browns sign Kareem Hunt to contract extension
The Cleveland Browns have paid Kareem Hunt, signing him to a two-year contract extension.
After he was released by the Kansas City Chiefs, Kareem Hunt was given a second chance by the Cleveland Browns. He took full advantage of that second chance, having himself a solid 2019 campaign.
Now, the Browns have decided to reward him. On Tuesday, Cleveland announced they’ve agree to a two-year extension with the speedster, keeping him in town rocking a Browns jersey for at least the next three seasons.
The Browns will feature a two-headed running back monster with Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb
Last season for the Browns, Hunt appeared in eight games and rushed for 179 yards on 43 carries. He added 37 receptions for 285 yards. Cleveland indeed gave him his second chance after Kansas City released him in November of 2018. The Chiefs let him go after video surfaced of Hunt kicking and shoving a woman inside of a hotel.
He ended up in Cleveland and was able to suit up for the Browns after he served his eight-game suspension. Hunt will now be ready to rock Week 1 this year, and is expected to get a fair share of work alongside starting running back Nick Chubb.
Chubb blew up last season, rushing for 1,494 yards and eight touchdowns, earning him a trip to the Pro Bowl in his second year in the league. Chubb will of course be expected to have another brilliant season in 2020, but Hunt will also be there to take plenty of work too.
With the two working together, plus other offensive stars like Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, Cleveland fans are hoping the Browns can turn things around and get to the postseason.
Things will start with a Week 1 tilt against the Ravens on Sunday. When Hunt takes the field for that showdown, he’ll have the confidence from a new two-year deal to his name.
