Going into the 2020 season, the NFL quarterback rankings begin with Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes leading the way.

Welcome to the 2020 FanSided NFL quarterback rankings. Every Tuesday morning throughout the regular season, we’ll be power ranking the starting signal-callers.

The ranking is a weighted average of current and past performances, with the former meaning more than the latter.

Now, let’s break them into tiers and have some fun.

2019 stats: 1,365 yards | 58.6 completion % | 7 TDs | 7 INTs | 6.7 YPA | 28.0 QBR

Haskins will be reliant on a rookie and second-year man to help him ascend in running back Antonio Gibson and receiver Terry McLaurin, respectively. Unfortunately, there isn’t much else. Haskins showed promise in his final two games of 2019, throwing for 394 yards and two touchdowns.

2019 stats: 3,138 yards | 63.2 completion % | 17 TDs | 10 INTs | 6.1 YPA | 41.5 QBR

This is Trubisky’s last stand in Chicago. The Bears acquired Nick Foles in the offseason and declined Trubisky’s fifth-year option. If he gets off to a slow start, he’ll get the hook.

2019 stats: 33 yards | 66.7 completion % | 1 TDs | 0 INTs | 5.5 YPA | 3.3 QBR

Taylor is a nice stopgap with starting experience, but he’s limited. The former Virginia Tech star doesn’t make many mistakes, but he won’t stretch the field. Taylor has never exceeded 3,100 passing yards or 20 touchdowns in a season.

2019 stats: 3,529 yards | 62.0 completion % | 20 TDs | 13 INTs | 7.0 YPA | 68.3 QBR

Fitzpatrick is keeping the seat warm for Tua Tagovailoa. He’s a great backup and adequate bridge, but too many mistakes have left him as a journeyman. Don’t expect him to start all season in Miami.

2019 stats: 1,384 yards | 67.9 completion % | 9 TDs | 2 INTs | 7.1 YPA | 50.9 QBR

Bridgewater gets his second chance to be a full-time starter in the NFL. Last year, he went 5-0 with the New Orleans Saints in Drew Brees’ stead. Coming into Carolina with a three-year, $60 million deal, the Panthers are hopeful he solves their quarterback problems.

2019 stats: 3,024 yards | 61.9 completion % | 19 TDs | 13 INTs | 6.9 YPA | 45.6 QBR

Darnold has talent. The issue has the utter lack of weaponry, and the presence of head coach Adam Gase. Darnold isn’t without blame, though, as the third-year man from USC throws far too many ill-advised interceptions.

2019 stats: 1,020 yards | 64.1 completion % | 7 TDs | 3 INTs | 6.5 YPA | 50.2 QBR

Some in Denver may bristle at Lock checking in 26th. However, look at the numbers above. He was  mediocre despite the Broncos going 4-1 in his five starts. In his second year, Lock needs to throw downfield and take advantage of Courtland Sutton and rookies KJ Hamler and Jerry Jeudy.

2019 stats: 3,027 yards | 61.9 completion % | 24 TDs | 12 INTs | 6.6 YPA | 55.7 QBR

Jones is intriguing. The Giants have talent at each skill position, and the offensive line should be better after drafting Andrew Thomas with the No. 4 overall pick. For Jones to rise, he needs to limit the turnovers after fumbling an absurd 18 times last season.
