Former Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer gave the perfect account of what the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry means.

The Ohio State Michigan rivalry is one of the best rivalries in college football if not at the top of the list. On the latest installment of Fox Sports’ Ring Chronicles, Braxton Miller joined his former coach Urban Meyer to discuss what the rivalry means. Specifically, the 26-21 victory to cap a perfect 12-0 regular season.

The Buckeyes had been on an offensive tear that season led by Braxton Miller. He threw for 2,000 yards and rushed for 1,000 as that offense put up 423.8 yards per game in total offense. Quite simply, rivalry games are the ones that coaches, players and fans are excited to be a part of.

Miller said Meyer had a heightened sense of urgency leading up to his first rivalry matchup. Just the way it should be when it comes to a game as important as that one.

Meyer echoed that sentiment when he said that if Ohio State lost to Michigan all of the wins prior to that loss wouldn’t have mattered. “That’s one you can’t lose. I really believe the other 11 don’t matter if you lose that game… Every day we work on that game.”

He also mentioned that he had been preparing for that matchup since he was six years old back when Bo Schembechler and Woody Hayes were coaching the two sides.

Ohio State won seven straight against Michigan under Meyer and have continued that dominance since Ryan Day took over. While Ohio State’s offense was responsible for putting up 118 points in the last two meetings. We can’t overlook just how good the Buckeye’s defense has been with Chase Young, the Bosa brothers, and the numerous talented cornerbacks the team had.
