Bill O’Brien is having a rough time in the season opener.
The Houston Texans took an early 7-0 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs. Then the home team woke up and entered halftime with a 17-7 lead.
Bill O’Brien saw this same scenario play out last postseason. An early lead turned into a blowout loss and one would think he may be more aggressive this time around before things got out of hand. That is just wishful thinking. His Texans were down 24-7 in the third quarter Thursday and the head coach was calling run plays like the game was tied. He then made fans pull their hair out with a punt from midfield while down 17 points in the second half.
Bill O'Brien being offered a terrible trade: What the hell, roll the dice, let's get crazy.

Bill O'Brien facing fourth-and-short: Better play it safe.
Bill O’Brien makes another questionable decision
O’Brien choosing to punt and give the ball to the most explosive offense in the NFL would be a surprise if he had not built a reputation for questionable moves.
GM Bill O'Brien: "I'll make Deshaun Watson the 2nd-highest paid quarterback."

HC Bill O'Brien, down 24-7: "Now's the perfect time to establish the run."
Handing the ball to David Johnson while down 17 points in the third quarter is fine if it happens once or twice. But O’Brien is either trying to prove the Johnson trade was smart or just has no feel for the flow of a game.
Bill O’Brien calling run plays down 24-7. We know he’s a terrible GM, now he’s showing everyone he can’t coach, either

There is just no logic behind his decisions and Texans fans have seen this over and over for years.
It's almost like Bill O'Brien isn't doing a good job

It’s almost like having DeAndre Hopkins on the field would be more beneficial in this situation.
Is Bill O’Brien’s entire game plan an attempt to convince the world that the David Johnson trade was smart? My column:

Getting Watson paid was a great move. But the quarterback can’t help his offense if his head coach purposely lets games get away.
David Johnson scores first touchdown with Texans (Video). dark. Next
It is too late to establish the run when down 17 points to Patrick Mahomes. O’Brien should have some memorable quotes following the game.
