The 2020 football season is here and so is my fantasy football advice. Here are five players you should consider streaming for week 1.

The 2020 football season kicked off on Thursday with a game between the defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Houston Texans. That means we are just a couple of days away from the first NFL Sunday and fantasy football owners panicking on who they should start.

While everyone has their full team at their disposal, there might be a matchup or two that you’re just sure about. That’s where I come in. As you prepare for Week 1, there are a handful of players with good matchups that are widely available to start the season.

I have listed two quarterbacks, a running back, a wide receiver and a defense. All five players listed are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. Check your league for player availability.

Philip Rivers

Rivers was one of many quarterbacks to join a new team for the 2020 season. And, like those quarterbacks, he didn’t have any preseason games to work on timing and build a rapport with his new teammates.

However, Rivers is a professional and knows how to play the position. He joins a Colts team with TY Hilton, Jack Doyle and Zach Pascal as his main pass catchers. The division is a bit softer compared to the AFC West.

Rivers and the Colts start the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that keeps trading away or cutting big names.

While Rivers didn’t have a 30-point fantasy game last year, he is still good for 25 points and should do so in Week 1.

Teddy Bridgewater

Bridgewater takes over the Carolina Panthers starting quarterback job as Cam Newton continues his career in New England. Bridgewater takes over a pretty talented team with his main weapon being Christian McCaffrey. He also has DJ Moore, Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel.

The Panthers face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The Raiders pass defense gave up the fifth-most QB points last year and didn’t do much this offseason to change the narrative. Even though I would start Rivers sight unseen, I wouldn’t be so willing to start Bridgewater unless I’m in the deepest of leagues.

Boston Scott

The Eagles have dealt with a slew of injuries already this season. Miles Sanders is dealing with a hamstring injury and is questionable for Week 1. This would give Scott the clear path to the majority of carries against Washington with Corey Clement behind him.

The Eagles have enough weapons in the passing game to make it work with Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, DeSean Jackson and Jalen Reagor. But, to keep defenses honest, they’ll have to incorporate the running game and Scott is the guy to do that.

N’Keal Harry

Harry did not look good in his rookie season, catching 12 passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns in seven games. The Patriots saw a few offensive players leave, giving Harry the opportunity to see a lot of targets as the No. 2 option.

Harry and the Patriots (sounds like a group from the 1920s) face the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. Miami’s secondary looks good but with the running game and Newton’s ability to extend plays, I think Harry is a good flex play.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers defense gets to feast on the Cincinnati Bengals and rookie quarterback Joe Burrow. Losing Derwin James does hurt, but the Chargers have the dangerous trio of Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram to break through the line and disrupt the pass.

Streaming defenses is something I talk about every year. There’s no need to spend an early-round pick on a defense. The point differential is not worth it. And, having the Chargers defense available in Week 1 is the perfect example.

Should you start Colts rookie Jonathan Taylor in Week 1?. dark. Next

It’s only Week 1 of the fantasy football season, so there’s no reason to overthink your lineup. Start your studs. If you have a choice, consult the experts’ rankings, the matchup, weather, anything you can to make an informed decision. These five players can be viable in your starting lineup this week.
